THE VISION
King’s Place will deliver an innovative and progressive student campus comprising 444 beds, 308 studios and 136 en-suite cluster beds, well-lit and generous in size offering more than double the internal and external amenity per room found in typical Purpose-Built Student Accommodation across London. There will also be eight affordable homes for local key workers and flexible office and retail space.
The campus will include over 1,300 sqm of quality student amenity spaces, including communal lounges, cinema room, health and well-being room, multimedia room, karaoke, games room, study space, pavilion kitchen and dedicated roof terraces for student gatherings.
Located on Borough High Street, King’s Place will provide students with fast, easy access to universities and educational institutions, venues, gyms, bars, cafes and central London.
A range of different rooms has been designed for a variety of budgets and uses including studios, cluster beds and shared living to premium ‘penthouse’ studios and wheelchair-accessible studios.
A range of different rooms has been designed for a variety of budgets and uses including studios, cluster beds and shared living to premium ‘penthouse’ studios and wheelchair-accessible studios.
A communal courtyard has been designed to offer a calming refuge in the heart of the building and a central pavilion area will create a collaborative space adaptable to a variety of different uses, such as yoga and group discussions.
The rooftop will have a dedicated terrace for student gatherings, which with its extensive planting and rooftop pavilion, will create the perfect place for cooking, dining and hosting indoor/outdoor events.
At ground and first floor levels a new workspace focuses around a central double height space and generates activation on to Borough High Street. A publicly accessible corner café provides a pivot point between workspace, streetscape, and a new pocket park, leading onto the student housing entrance.
King’s Place’s sensitive design is informed by a careful understanding of its setting: from the historical urban grain of Southwark to its material, architectural and spatial characteristics.
